Medy’s two kids, King (Rayver Cruz) and Queenie (Xyriel Manabat) are now 19 and 7. King struggles with the return of his mother. Animosity, resentment, shame, and anger are issues he has built with Medy. For the young Queenie, it’s getting to know the mother, who she thought would one day come out of a Balikbayan Box. And as for her husband, Medy discovers something she least expected.

A Mother’s Story is a 2011 Filipino family drama film about Medy (Pokwang) who became an illegal immigrant in the United States and her struggles as she achieves legal status. The film deals with what theOFWs go through in the United States. This is the first film produced by The Filipino Channel and distributed ABS-CBN International and Star Cinema.

The film had its premiere in Los Angeles, CA on November 6, 2011. The film was released in Philippine cinemas on January 8, 2012.

Twenty years later, Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) is in the process of filming a documentary about exorcisms, and to find out more about her mother, she visits a school in Rome. She meets two priests, Ben (Simon Quarterman) and David (Evan Helmuth). Ben and David take Isabella with them on an exorcism performed on Rosalita (Bonnie Morgan). They bring along medical equipment to determine if it’s possession or mental illness. Rosalita attacks the crew after spouting out obscene remarks in different languages and accents. She calls Isabella by her name, despite not knowing her. Eventually, they get her under control.

When Isabella goes to visit her mother, Maria, in the asylum, she finds that her mother speaks in different accents and has paintings all over the walls. She has inverted crosses carved into her arms and her bottom lip. Maria tells Isabella that killing a child is against God’s will, then lets out an ear-shattering scream. Isabella tells David and Ben that she had an abortion years ago and her mother had no way of knowing that–another sign that showed possible possession. As the crew prepares to perform an exorcism/analysis on Maria, David worries about losing his job, since the Church does not authorize exorcisms without undeniable proof that the patient is indeed possessed. During the procedure, Maria mentions knowing what Ben did in the past, as well as Isabella’s child. She breaks free of her restraints and sends Ben flying into the door, also knocking David to the ground. The doctors rush in shortly after.

After analyzing the data from the video and audio files, they present the evidence to the Church. David shows many signs of stress, as Ben plays the audio files over and over, listening to the part where Maria says “I know what you did”. Ben then finds that there are four different demons speaking in unison in a different clip. David is to perform a baptism at his church, in which Michael tags along to record. The service starts without incident until he holds the baby to start the Immersion Baptism. He then mutters some lines from the Bible and starts forcefully submerging the baby in the holy water, staring blankly at the camera. The crowd of people rush up to save the baby as he passes out.

Soon after, Ben finds David at home with blood all over his forearms, eyes rolled back into his head, much the way Maria was during the exorcism. The police arrive, and though it doesn’t show on film, David somehow acquires an officer’s handgun and holds it in his mouth. Ben tells him to fight it, but he begins to weep, reciting The Lord’s Prayer, stopping right before the last few words. He laughs and then shoots himself. Just then, Isabella begins having a seizure.

Ben hysterically comes to the realization that Isabella is possessed. As they wait in the hospital, nurses rush into the emergency room and find a nurse on the floor, blood spewing from her neck as other nurses fight to restrain Isabella. Ben and Michael drag Isabella into the hallway and restrain her. They leave with Isabella in a car, heading to get help for a potential exorcism. While Michael drives, Isabella speaks of also knowing the horrible act Ben committed, scaring Ben. She then tries to strangle Michael but Ben is able to pull her off before Michael loses control of the car. He instantly shows signs of possession, and acceleration can be heard as they speed into oncoming traffic, headlong into another car. The camera goes black, and cuts in with short sequences of chaos, most likely of the vehicle flipping. As the screen finally cuts to black, a website (www.therossifiles.com) is shown, along with the statement that the case of the Rossi family has not yet been solved.

The Devil Inside is an American supernatural horror film directed and co-written by William Brent Bell. It is a documentary-style found footage film about a woman who becomes involved in a series of exorcisms during her quest to determine what happened to her mother, a woman who murdered three people as a result of being possessed by a demon. Produced by Morris Paulson and Matthew Peterman, the film stars Fernanda Andrade, Simon Quarterman, Evan Helmuth, and Suzan Crowley, and was released theatrically on January 6, 2012. It is currently the highest grossing film of 2012.

The film received extremely negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. Despite the negative reaction, the film topped the box office on its opening weekend, yet continued to drop drastically in the second week, before disappearing completely from the box office top ten.

The main action takes place towards the end of the Elizabethan era as political intrigue flourishes between the Tudors and the Cecils (father William and son Robert), over the succession to Queen Elizabeth I. In flashbacks, de Vere is portrayed as a prodigious genius, writing at eight or nine years of age (1558/1559) A Midsummer Night’s Dream, de Vere acting the role of Puck before the young queen Elizabeth. He is then forced to live in the repressive, puritanical house of William Cecil where, years later, he kills a spying servant lurking behind an arras, much like the death of Polonius in Hamlet. William Cecil uses this murder to blackmail de Vere into a loveless marriage with his daughter, Anne Cecil, compelling him also to renounce literature. De Vere later becomes the Queen’s lover, and sires – unknown to him – an illegimate son; the son is adopted, becoming Henry Wriothesley, 3rd Earl of Southampton, but his true parentage is hidden from all but the Cecils.

De Vere must struggle against a taboo that would forbid him to write; against his wife’s impatience with his literary work as a dishonour to her family; and against the Queen’s counsellors. Foremost among these is his father-in-law William Cecil, who is convinced that theatres are sinful. Cecil’s plan to have James, the son of Mary, Queen of Scots crowned king is also threatened by the presence of de Vere’s and the Queen’s child, who would be an alternative contender for the throne, and also of pure Tudor lineage.

Almost four decades after his private première, de Vere visits a public theatre and is deeply impressed by the way spectators can be swayed. Much taken by the propagandistic power of art, considering that “all art is political … otherwise it is just decoration,” de Vere decides to employ his secretly written plays for the promotion of the Earl of Essex’s cause (Essex being another of the Queen’s illegitimate sons) over the candidate preferred by the Cecils, writing Henry V and, later, Richard III as propaganda designed to foment revolution. He contacts Ben Jonson, who had been confined in the Tower of London on charges of sedition until de Vere uses his influence to free him, in order to have his play Henry V staged under Jonson’s name. The plan backfires when an unscrupulous young actor, William Shakespeare, steps up on stage and claims authorship, Jonson having shrunk from passing himself off as the author after a riot on the play’s opening night. It is this “drunken oaf” who takes on the role as de Vere’s front man, while Jonson becomes de Vere’s only confidant in the truth.

Shakespeare however, having discovered the real author’s identity, extorts money from de Vere to build the Globe theatre, and wangles £400 per year for posturing as a front. After Christopher Marlowe stumbles on the truth that Shakespeare’s inexplicable talents hide the genius of another hand, he is found with his throat slit. Jonson later confronts Shakespeare and accuses him of the murder.

At the climax, de Vere uses the play Richard III as a thinly veiled attack on the hunchbacked Robert Cecil. The plan is to incite a mob to march against Cecil, and thus weaken his position at court. At the same time, Essex is to march with the Earl of Southampton to the Palace, to promote his own claim to the succession. However the plan fails, as a jealous Jonson betrays the plot to Cecil, who guns down the mob, stopping it from joining Essex. The Queen, swayed by Cecil, thinks that Essex is trying to depose of her violently. Cecil easily captures Essex and Southampton, who are condemned for treason.

Robert Cecil then tells a broken de Vere that Elizabeth had other bastard sons – one of which was de Vere himself. If true, it would mean that de Vere committed incest with his mother. In order to save his son from being beheaded, de Vere writes Venus and Adonis to remind the Queen of their love. She agrees to save Southampton, but insists that de Vere remain anonymous as the true author of ‘Shakespeare’s’ works.

After the Queen’s death, James succeeds, though Cecil’s hopes of a more puritanical regime are shattered when James expresses his wish to see more of Shakespeare’s work. Shakespeare retires on his ill-gotten gains to Stratford to become a businessman, and de Vere dies in 1604, having commended his manuscripts to the care of a repentant Ben Jonson. Cecil however still wants the manuscripts destroyed. With the destruction of the Globe, he believes them burnt, but Jonson later discovers they have survived. Nevertheless, the ‘truth’ that Edward de Vere, not the nearly illiterate Shakespeare, is their real author remains concealed.

Anonymous is a political thriller and pseudo-historical drama which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2011.Directed by Roland Emmerich and written by John Orloff, the movie is a fictionalized version of the life of Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, an Elizabethan courtier, playwright, poet and patron of the arts. Starring Rhys Ifans (de Vere) and Vanessa Redgrave (Queen Elizabeth), Anonymous utilizes emerging VFX CG technology to recreate exterior period backgrounds in and around old London, circa 1550-1604.

After performing a concert at a local cathedral, the duo are approached by Sir Lachlan Morrison and his wife Delia, the laird of the small village of Tressock in the Scottish lowlands. They invite Beth and Steve to come back with them to preach, but intend them for a more central part in Tressock’s May Day celebration.

Meanwhile, detective Orlando is sent to Tressock, posing as the local police officer, in order to secretly investigate reports of a pagan cult. Orlando discovers that the people of the village worship the ancient Celt goddess Sulis.

Beth and Steve decide to begin their preaching at the May Day celebrations in the village. In an attempt to impress the locals, they agree to becoming the local Queen of the May and the Laddie for the festival not realising the consequences of their decision and not knowing what awaits them.

The Wicker Tree is a 2011 film by British director Robin Hardy. The film contains several similar elements to the 1973 film The Wicker Man which was also directed by Hardy, but is neither a sequel nor a remake of that film.The film premiered in July at the Fantasia Festival in Canada.

The zoo runs into trouble when Benjamin’s bank account runs dry. The morale of the workers starts to dip and they fear Benjamin will sell the property. At the same time, Lily becomes upset with Dylan after he happily receives news his family may be leaving the zoo. However, Benjamin discovers that his late wife has left him an investment account with instruction to use the money wisely while listening to his heart. This discovery lifts the spirits of the zoo’s workers. Heartbroken and disappointed about staying at the zoo, Dylan confronts his father and a heated argument ensues. However, they manage to reconcile the next morning. When Dylan admits he misses Lily, Benjamin gives his son advice on reconciling with her.

Prior to the grand opening, the facility passes a very stringent inspection and Dylan, following his father’s advice, reconciles with Lily and confesses his love for her.

Although the town experiences the worst rainstorm in a hundred years that threatens to wash out the opening, the weather clears just in time. They are disappointed when no visitors arrive that morning, until they learn that a fallen tree has blocked the access road, leaving many visitors unsure if the zoo is even open. Eventually, the zoo is well received by the community. While searching for more tickets, Kelly admits to Benjamin that she has a crush on him but “can’t get a handle on it”. She then kisses him and tells him that maybe they can do that again on New Years. After Benjamin tells her that he’s looking forward to New Years, she returns to the zoo.

Benjamin takes his children to the place where he met their mother, telling them it was the point in both their lives where they became a “possibility”. He takes them through the encounter that day and they begin to imagine their mother there with them.

We Bought a Zoo is a 2011 comedy-drama film based on a memoir by Benjamin Mee. The film is directed by Cameron Crowe, and it stars actor Matt Damon as the lead character Benjamin Mee. We Bought a Zoo tells the story of Benjamin Mee and his family who just moved into a dilapidated zoo. They took on the challenge of preparing the zoo for its reopening to the public.

David’s father Thomas does not welcome Selene and Eve, claiming Michael died twelve years ago and Selene is the cause for the destruction of the vampire clan. Dr. Jacob Lane, director of Antigen, is revealed to be a lycan alongside his son Quint, the antidote is actually to make lycans immune to the deadly effects of silver. However, Eve’s hybrid genetic code is required to achieve this, so Lane sends Quint with other lycans to the vampire coven. Numerous vampires are slaughtered, Selene meets Quint who transforms into a gigantic “super lycan”, his body changed by injections using Eve’s blood. Selene is defeated, Eve is captured by the lycans, and David is mortally wounded during the battle. Selene decides to save Eve, but revives David using her immortal blood, given to her by Alexander Corvinus in Evolution.

Able to survive in sunlight, Selene enlists the help of Detective Sebastian, a human who tried to investigate Antigen earlier in the film. Sebastian agrees to help save Eve, admitting he was married to a vampire until she committed suicide during the Purge. Selene destroys part of Antigen’s headquarters using explosives, forcing Dr. Lane to move Eve out of the building to perform an operation to create the antidote. Selene escapes from the lycans in the building, finding Michael cryogenically frozen in a laboratory, and damages his cell to let him out. Escaping in a van, Dr. Lane is intercepted by Sebastian and then Selene who cause the van to crash. Quint arrives, transforming into his super lycan form and fights Selene.

Eve frees herself from the van and engages Dr. Lane in a fight, who has injected himself with the super lycan formula used on Quint. Sebastian and the revived David aid Eve in her fight until she kills Dr. Lane by ripping his throat out. Quint corners Selene but forced to reverts to his human form, only for Selene to shove an activated silver-based grenade into Quint’s body, causing him to explode. Selene goes to find Michael but learns he has already escaped, Eve sharing his vision and learns he is on the roof. Selene, Eve and David run to the roof only to find Michael has gone. Selene concludes she will find Michael, and take back the world from the humans and lycans so the vampires can rebuild themselves.

Underworld: Awakening (also known as Underworld 4) is a 2012 American 3D action horror film directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein. It is the fourth installment in the Underworld film series, with Kate Beckinsale reprising her role as Selene. Sandrine Holt, Michael Ealy, and India Eisley appeared, in new roles to the series. Filming began in March 2011 in Vancouver, British Columbia.It was released in Digital 3D, IMAX 3D and 2D theatres on January 20, 2012.

Kimmy Dora (Also known as Kimmy Dora: Kambal Sa Kiyeme) is a 2009 Filipino comedy film directed by Joyce Bernal and written by Chris Martinez. It tells the story of twin sisters Kimmy and Dora, both played by Eugene Domingo. It served as the launching movie for Domingo, who up to this point played supporting roles in previous films.

According to MMFF day 3 box office tally, fantasy movie “Enteng ng Ina Mo” ranked first with 91.8 million, followed by epic film “Ang Panday 2″ with 51.5 million. Placing 3^rd and 4^th are horror movies “Segunda Mano” and “Shake Rattle & Roll 13″ with 46.9 and 22.7 million respectively. Comedy flick “My Househusband” earned 20.8 million, while award contenders “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” and “Yesterday Today and Tomorrow” only made 7.9 and 4 million each.

MANILA, Philippines — The Vic Sotto-Ai Ai de las Alas starrer “Enteng ng Ina Mo” was named the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival’s official top-grosser, ranking high at number one with P237,879,178.70.

This, the Metro Manila Film Festival Executive Committee, through Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino, announced as this year’s filmfest (which ran Dec. 25, 2011-Jan. 7, 2012) came to a close.

The comic merger of two blockbuster films, “Enteng Kabisote” and “Ang Tanging Ina,” produced by M-Zet Productions, Star Cinema, and OctoArts Films, consistently ranked first among seven entries since the filmfest opened on Dec. 25, 2011.

“Enteng” garnered more than a hundred million difference with the second placer, “Segunda Mano” with P126,630,979.00.

The horror flick, produced by Star Cinema, MJM Productions, and Agostodos Pictures, stars Kris Aquino, Dingdong Dantes and Angelica Panganiban.

“Segunda Mano” jumped from number three to two, edging out “Ang Panday 2.”

Starring Senator Bong Revilla and Marian Rivera, Imus Productions and GMA Films’ “Ang Panday 2,” ranked third with P105,603,500.25.

Coming in at fourth is real-life husband and wife Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos’ “My Househusband: Ikaw Na!” with P62,074,350.58.

The OctoArts Films-produced family comedy also stars Eugene Domingo.

Regal Entertainment’s horror franchise, starring an all-star cast, “Shake Rattle & Roll 13” finished fifth with P55,484,185.89.

MMFF 2011’s Best Picture “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” placed sixth with P38,437,416.80.

Produced by Scenema Concepts, Inc. and Viva Films, the fourth retelling of the Asiong Salonga story was played by Laguna Governor Jeorge “ER” Estregan.

Completing the list is Regal Entertainment’s “controversial” family drama “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow,” with P10,682,902.35. The film, which served as Maricel Soriano’s showbiz comeback after months of rest, earned for her the Best Actress Award.

Tolentino said the just concluded filmfest posted a record-setting “all-time high” with a total gross of P636,792,509.57. Last year’s box office take was P540,508,031.60.

Darna, Kuno? (literally “Darna Pretender?”, “Pretending as Darna?”, “Playing Darna’s Role?”, or “Acting as Darna?”) was a 1979 Philippine film directed by Luciano B. Carlos and written by Toto Belano. Produced under the action, comedy, and fantasy genre, it was a family-friendly movie intended as a parody or spoof of Mars Ravelo’s comic book character and female superhero Darna. The role of Darna Kuno was played by Filipino actor,Dolphy. The film was released on 30 March 1979.

Plot

The real Darna (Brenda Del Rio) in the Darna, Kuno? storyline became pregnant. Based on the story, Darna was impregnated by the Japanese anime robots Voltes V and Mazinger Z. Because of the pregnancy someone had to take Darna’s place temporarily as the superheroine until she had given birth. The original Darna lent her magical stone (the stone that transforms Narda, Darna’s alter-ego, into Darna when swallowed and the name Darna is shouted aloud) to Dolphy who will become the male Darna dressed up in the female Darna costume. Dolphy as Darna or more specifically the Darna Pretender or replacement had to fight tikbalangs, aswangs, and other enemies. A female character, Annabel (Lotis Key), became the other Darna Kuno in the story. She stole the magical stone from Dolphy after finding out Darna Kuno’s secret identity. Both male and female Darna Pretenders fought and defeated alien invaders. The true Darna returned to retrieve her magical stone carrying her baby who was already wearing a Darna costume.

This movie basically spoof Hollywood’s Tarzan. Joey de Leon should have titled it as Tarzan but due to some copyright problem they made it as Starzan, still with character Jean as Jane (his love interest), and Chita became a human aide named Chita-eh.

In Filipino director Chito Roño’s adventure yarn, World War II veteran Lolo Melo (Armando Goyena) enjoys regaling his grandson Jobert (Danilo Barrios) with war stories, one of which includes Lolo’s participation in burying the famed Yamashita treasure. When Jobert heads to Manila to unearth the cache, little does he know that he has competition: A shadowy G-man (Albert Martinez) and a soldier of fortune (Vic Diaz) are also in pursuit of the loot.

The Black Nazarene, known to devotees as (Spanish: Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno), (English:Our Father Jesus Nazarene}, (Filipino: Mahal na Itim na Nazareno} is a life-sized, dark-coloured, wooden sculpture of Jesus Christ, believed to be miraculous by many Filipino devotees. Originally a statue with fair or light complexion, it turned dark after it was exposed to fire on its arrival fromMexico. At the end of the movie, Ciara meets her husband, played by noted American banker Brett Ackerman, on a pier.

The movie tells the story of Ana played by Shaina Magdayao who has always been having nightmares about certain people getting killed. Things become scarier when her ex-boyfriend played by Jake Cuenca brings her to Villa Estrella where she meets a girl named Gisele played by Maja Salvador who seems to be very familiar to her

It will be at this ball where the engagement of the governor’s son Dylan Evelino (Jake Cuenca), and Cedes Fernandez (Angel Locsin) will be announced. Despite her hatred for the dirty politics, Cedes has no choice but to succumb to the decision of Dylan out of her indebtedness towards the family.

Emman is drawn towards Cedes from the first time she catches his eye. As their lives intertwine through dance, Emman and Cedes find themselves resisting an affair: one that holds the truths to their painful pasts, and the memories of a boundless love. Pursuing their feelings for each other will only set fire to the dangers and trappings of their love, so much so that their love could cost them their lives. George Apostol a.k.a. DJ Heidee (Geronimo) received her break as a radio disc-jock in Alam na Alam with DJ Ram (John Lapus) of 104.3 Sikat Radio, counselling callers and listeners in her segment, Heartbreak Hotline. Earning the tag Goddess of the Heartbroken, ratings shot up as she racks up fans from her merciless opinion. One night, a caller named Melissa (Megan Young) sought out her guidance concerning her incurable cad of a boyfriend, Andrew Escalona (Gerald Anderson). Promptly, DJ Heidee encouraged her to break-up with him, and did so – on nationwide radio. Fearing of losing his girl and suffering from national embarrassment, Andrew went to the radio station to confront DJ Heidee. Angered by the disc-jock’s prodding, he told the station manager he will inform the KBP (Kilusan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas) of the ‘damage’ DJ Heidee has done to him. Dreading losing her break, she struck a deal with Andrew that she’ll help him get back Melissa to avoid meeting KBP. He agreed. Their little plan gained steam and result until the tart on-air relationship counsellor and the furious heartbroken listener ended falling for one another.

A young interim doctor in a rural hospital, Claire (Maja Salvador), has encountered a female patient in suspicion of carrying a deadly flu virus. Sheila (Jennica Garcia), along with her friends, decided to camp in a seemingly desolated forest. To everyone’s surprise, the others destroyed the anthills found on the camping site. Unknown to them, the anthills were the lairs of vicious dwarf-like creatures, the “Lamang Lupa”, and as a consequence of their actions, they were hunted down one by one. They must escape the camping site immediately before the Lamang Lupa massacres them all.

Auditions for the season started in Metro Manila on March 4, 2011 at the SM Mall of Asia where around 10,000 people attended. Show director Lauren Dyogi said the turnout at the Mall of Asia audition was the largest in the show’s history. Other auditions were held at several key cities in the Philippines from March to July 2011, plus overseas auditions in Tokyo and Los Angeles. The total number of aspirants for the season, as claimed by the show, was 30,789. A total of 37 housemates entered for this season; fourteen on opening night, with one coming from the 30 reserved housemates for this season, fifteen on Day 8, six on Day 15, and two on Days 23 and 25.

Before the premiere program, a special weekday afternoon primer entitled Pinoy Big Brother: The Audition Stories started airing on October 24, 2011. It featured several participants whose audition stories caught the interest of the producers.The afternoon primer lasted until November 4, 2011. It eventually gave way to the new show, Pinoy Big Brother: UnliDay, the day main program. The said program shows the latest happenings of the Day Housemates from the Industrial House.
